To sync Ducalis issue ranking, you have to create and preset two custom fields in your Jira. The process is the same for both Cloud and Server versions.

There are two kinds of Jira projects:

  • Classic
  • Next-gen (Jira Cloud only)

Custom fields are created and work differently in the two project types.

For issue ranking sync, you can use a Ducalis board with one or more classic projects or with one next-gen project.

Please, do not combine next-gen projects with any other in a single Ducalis board filter—the sync will not work.

NOTE 1! WE ADVISE ONLY JIRA ADMIN OR PROJECT ADMIN TO RUN THE SYNC. OTHERWISE, CUSTOM FIELDS UPDATES MAY TRIGGER DOZENS OF EMAILS INTO YOUR COWORKERS' INBOX.

NOTE 2! RUNNING THE SYNC BY ADMIN WILL NOT HELP AGAINST DOZENS OF NOTIFICATIONS INTO A PUBLIC SLACK CHANNEL—YOU SHOULD MUTE THE INTEGRATION YOURSELF TO PREVENT IT.

Custom Fields Creation in a Classic Project

1. Go to Settings (cog button next to your avatar, top right corner).

2. Go to Issues in Jira Settings.

3. Go to Custom Fields in the menu on the left.

4. Click Create custom field in the top right corner.

5. Choose Text Field (single line).

6. Click Next.

7. Copy the field name from Ducalis settings. Your fields names depend on your board emoji.

8. Paste in the field name in Jira and click Create.

9. Associate the field and click Update.

  • Default Screen
  • Resolve Issue screen
  • Workflow Screen
  • All screens with the project keys for projects you have in the Ducalis board filter.

If you don't see your project key it may mean that it shares settings with another project.

Open Issue type screen schemes in a new tab. There you will see what project key relates to yours.

The first field is ready. You have to create two fields for issue ranking sync: Priority and Alignment.

Custom Fields Creation in a Next-gen Project

1. Go to Project settings (in the menu on the left inside the project).

2. Go to Issue Types.

3. Choose any issue type you're prioritizing.

4. Drag the Short Text field from the Create A Field section on the right and drop it among the Context fields (anywhere you want it to be).

5. Type the field name, Priority 🚀 Ducalis.

6. Click Save Changes.

7. Create one more field, Alignment 🚀 Ducalis, straight away.

8. Go to all the other issue types you're prioritizing, and drag and drop both fields from the Previously Create Fields into Context fields.

9. Don't forget to click Save Changes for each issue type.

The custom fields for the next-gen project are ready.
