Using Customers’ Votes as a Criterion in Prioritization

Involving user feedback in your prioritization process is an effective way to ensure that the most valuable features or improvements are implemented. One of the ways to do this is by using user votes as a criterion in your prioritization framework.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to set up and use user votes as a criterion in your prioritization process.

Define ‘Votes’ as a Criterion

1. Choose the board you need to add the criterion, or do it through Criteria Management section.

2. On the criteria settings page, click + Criterion.

3. Start by entering the name you want to give the criterion and click +New [name of criterion].

4. To add Votes as a criterion, choose Custom Field.

5. Fill in required fields:

  • Platform – choose Ducalis.
  • Field – choose Votes.

6. Then like any other criterion, choose the Criterion type and add a description. When done click Save Criterion.

7.  You can edit the criterion weight.

This criterion will reflect how much importance or demand a task has, based on the number of votes users give to specific features or requests.

User Votes In Total Score Formula

Once the Votes criterion has been filled in for all tasks, the overall prioritization score will reflect user demand alongside other criteria.

Use this information to sort tasks and determine which features or issues should be prioritized based on user feedback.

Tips:

  • Gather User Feedback: Collect votes from various sources, such as your product feedback platform, emails, chats or customer support requests.
  • Transparency: Share the prioritization process with your users to show that their votes impact product decisions.

By using user votes as a criterion in your prioritization process, you can better align your product roadmap with the actual needs and desires of your users, ensuring that the most valuable features are tackled first.
