Automation
Automate the entire release notes workflow—from creation to delivery. Set up templates, enable status auto-updates, and schedule recurring emails to save time and maintain consistency.
How automation works
- Template: Define the structure for all release notes
- Status auto-update: Automatically sync task tracker status changes to Ideas
- Announcement: Draft content in advance or auto-generate from completed Ideas
- Schedule: Set recurring delivery times (weekly, biweekly)
- Send: Emails deliver automatically to Subscribers
Set up a template
Create a reusable template that defines the structure for all future release notes. Choose which blocks to include and customize the format.

Create announcements in advance
Draft announcements while features are still in development (testing, staging). Update the content as needed before release. When the feature ships, the announcement automatically includes in the next scheduled release note.
See how to create announcements.
Enable status auto-update rules
Configure rules to automatically update Idea statuses when you change linked task tracker issues. This eliminates manual status updates and keeps your public roadmap current.
Setting up status auto-update includes webhook configuration. Webhooks trigger release note emails when you deploy a release.

Schedule recurring release notes
Set the frequency, day, and time for automatic delivery:
- Weekly or biweekly: Choose your preferred schedule
- Trigger options:
- Version release (webhook-triggered)
- Scheduled (time-based)
- Manual send
- Webhook support: Integrate with deployment tools
See how to configure scheduling.
Engage customers with Changelog and Widget
Customers can view release notes in three places:
- Email: Scheduled digests sent to Subscribers
- Changelog page: Public page showing all announcements
- In-app widget: Embedded widget inside your product
Customers can subscribe to updates and provide feedback on releases.
